Where it all began

It’s hard to know if it begins before I arrived on earth, or if it began in my childhood backyard. From Texas, to New York, to Florida and Washington. Whether I was creating cakes & pastries out of sand and warm ocean water or blending up “Ranch dressing” in my Pacific Northwest treefort out of rainwater and bits of the forest, I’ve always loved creating things.

After going to art school at the University of Washington, I learned about WWOOF’ing and went to Sweden to work on an organic farm. My grandfather wanted to be a chicken farmer (though was told to have a more lucrative career and so became a telephone operator) and I spent a few summers on my aunt’s farm in Indiana growing up. So being connected to the land and nature has always been a part of my story.

After a multitude of jobs, I landed in farm school in Wisconsin a few years later and from there I went to work in culinary, ornamental and medicinal gardens in upstate New York at The Center For Discovery. My passion for plants grew. I had taken a soapmaking class a few summers prior outside of Chicago and fell in love. We worked with a goat farmer in Wisconsin who made soap and I was convinced this is what I wanted to do with my life.

I moved to Whidbey Island, Washington in the fall of 2011, started making my soaps, and have been doing that ever since. Along with managing and selling at a farmers market, and many other jobs to keep me busy on this coastal island in the Salish Sea.

I never know how long my stint at making soaps, bath and bodycare products will last, but for now, I continue to be excited about and satisfied with making beautiful plant-based, clean products that encourage self-care, health, and relaxation. ♡
